Running myths

1. You gain some weight.

Yes, it is possible to gain some weight in the beginning. This is because you are getting more muscles and muscles are more heavy than fats. But it's just in the beginning. Muscles help to burn fats much faster. So you will start to lose weight quite easily. Running is maybe the best sport to lose weight. Look here for more information.

2. Fat legs.

A lot of women are afraid to get fat legs when running. It's totaly not true that you get more fat legs. They are just more tight. More muscles. Runner's legs are really beautiful. Running just help them to be tighter, thinner stronger. Legs don't get more fat.

3. Just young poeple can run.

It is not true. A lot of old people are running everyday. It's very useful for older people to run. They can stay active for much longer time in their life. Do not hesitate to run, doesn't matter how old are you. One man completed marathon when he was 98 years old.

4. You have to breath very little.

Some people think that they have to hold their breath as much as they can. But it is not good, it's even harmful. You have to breath as much as you want to. You shouldn't lose your breath during running. It's good if you can keep a conversation.

5. It is not good to drink water after running.

I thought the same. But it's not healthy to do so. When you run, you lose a lot of water when sweating. You have to get it back. It is good to drink water after running. It's even better if you drink water with salt. Salt helps to get minerals back.

6. You are always tired after running.

Yes, it can happen if you run very fast, especially in the beginning. You can get tired even after 5 minutes. But you have to take it easy. Don't rush. Running is all about joy. Begin slowly and you will see how good you feel after running.

7. It is bad to run in the morning.

If you are working person and you work a very long time it's much better to run in the morning. Yes, in the beginning it will be very hard, you may feel sleepy at work, but just wait two- four weeks and you will see that you just feel more efficient at work. Running in the evening has one problem (if talking about time). There can be a party in friends house, you may want to go to the cinema and much more things can happen that you want to do in the evening. But you don't have to do anything in the morning. And you shouldn't worry about time in the evening because you have already run in the morning. So just get up a little bit earlier and you will see how good all your day will be, if you run in the morning.

8. Running is boring.

I don't think so. I think it's one of the most interesting sports. You can communicate as much as you want. Let's face it. If you play basketball, you are playing in one place, you don't get anywhere else. Just one place. The same with football. What about communication? You don't talk a lot when playing, because you are quite far from each other all the time. What about running? You can always get somewhere else. Your playground is all city, forest and parks. You can see a lot. And you can talk all the time when running. Talking even helps to run more easy. So it's really interesting sport.

9. Running takes a lot of time.

No, in fact it saves your time. Just think about this. When you are going to sport club: it takes time to walk, takes time to change clothes, it takes time to sport and once more to change and go home. A lot of time. When you are running - you just run from your home and get right back to your home again. It really saves a lot of your time

10. Running causes a lot of pain in stomach.

Yes, it can happen. But it's mostly our fault, not running's. You should eat at least 2-3 hours before running. Eat light food. Do not run fast in the beginning. Begin very slowly. If you do so all the time, I am almost 100% sure that you won't have any pains in your stomach at all.
